A Tribute to our Dad....San Dimas Ho'olaulea...We're not rookies anymore...!

Here's the picture from our first festival. This is our Dad (aka Sam, Uncle Sam, Kamuela & Ganka) at his best - "Mcgyver!" He can fix everything.

Okay, so Kim and I survived another event! We are no longer rookies! Sorry, no funny mishaps with pop up canopies this week! Our day started early as we finished tying up loose ends home - from animals, to kids, to husbands...we drove out to LaVerne to pick up our Aunty Linda, she lives 5 minutes from the park the Ho'olaulea was held at. We drove into the park and all of a sudden saw a sea of canopies - I started getting butterflies in my tummy, cause here we are two sisters at our second fair, with homemade stuffs and then there's all these booths that looked like they'd been doing this forever (eventhough, they had to start somewhere too, right?)...selling stuff probably made in china, what the heck had we gotten ourselves into?!!. I thought we were competing with the big dogs now, there was no way we were going to survive this one!! WELL, let me tell you, we were the only booth with all handmade stuff made by us or members in our family. So there was no competition there, whew! After making my routine walk around to each booth, I walked back to our little shack so proud, that we HAND MAKE OUR OWN STUFF TO SELL! There was nothing else that compared to US! HOW COOL IS THAT! Not only that - our stuff is really pretty, one of a kind and you can only get it from us!!!

We shared our booth with our Aunty Linda, she's our dad's youngest sister - and boy oh boy, it sure didn't seem like it was her first time selling her goods. First of all, her talent and creativity is amazing (it actually runs in our family!) she finds old jewelery, broken jewelery or odd pieces, to create her "NANI'S." Nani's, named after our late grandmother, she always had her eyeglasses around her neck attached to a chain so she wouldn't loose them, we know there are plenty of eyeglass holders out there, but these are unique! Unique because, they are handmade, one of a kind and made from recycled material! Well how perfect is that - recycled products, looks pretty and one of a kind! By the way, Thanks Aunty Linda, Uncle Julio, cousins Marina, Rick and Joey for letting us crash your pad!! It was like home away from home! And thanks for feeding us too! Breakfast was yummmmyyyy!
